King County Superior Court Case #10-1-09267-SEA

Support his case

On Oct. 26, 2010,  Tomas Afeworki was arrested for a crime he did not commit. Seattle Police planted evidence and perjured to frame him for murder.  After 16 years of wrongful imprisonment, he continues to fight for his freedom and encourages those who recognize corrupt judicial and police systems  to examine the stunning evidence of his case.

UPDATE: 2024 FILING

Tomas Afeworki filed a motion for production of Brady evidence, requesting the court to:

  1. Order the Prosecutor's Office to release suppressed documents and evidence.
  2. Hold evidentiary hearing on the suppression of evidence.
  3. Determine if exculpatory evidence was withheld and, if so, dismiss the conviction.

However, Prosecutor Amy Meckling—who serves as Judge David Keenan's personal civil defense attorney—opposed the motion.

On January 19, 2024, Judge David Keenan denied the motion without an evidentiary hearing, despite legal requirements under Brady v. Maryland and subsequent federal rulings. This decision triggered his current appeal.
